The holiday season is here! I love giving a special ornament to family each holiday season. Putting up the tree and looking back at all the old ornaments is so much fun and I love adding to the family ornament collection each year. This year, I finally made my first custom ornament. Engagement Ornament
A personalized ornament to mark a big life change this year- like an engagement is an adorable gift. My brother just got engaged, so I used this chance to make my first ornament using my Cricut.
I used my Cricut to cut vinyl wording. I kept the wording short and simple, because I wanted to use the largest size font that I could on the ornament. I purchased a plain wood ornament at a local craft store for under $3.00. I applied the vinyl to the ornament and then sealed with clear spray paint (link to spray paint here).
I am thrilled with how the ornament turned out and I hope my brother and his fiancé will love it.

Get creative and think about the person you want to make an ornament for. What other milestones happened this year to the person you want to gift an ornament to? Did they get married, buy a new house purchase, add a new family member (even think of the fur babies), graduate from school, or did they take a big trip? Any of these events could be memorialized on an ornament like the engagement ornament I made.
If no milestones happened this year, an ornament with the recipients family name would be a sweet gift!
DIY Kids Art Ornament
I also purchased plain wooden ornament for for 99 cents from a local craft store to let my kids decorate. I let my kids use regular markers and make their own “art.” My kids are young, so it was a lot of scribbles. But it was a fun activity and I wrote their names and the year on the back. I gifted these ornaments to my parents to put on their tree- and the ornaments were huge hit.

These personalized ornament ideas are simple but sweet gift. You can use a Cricut, like I did- or even just markers to make a custom ornament. Don’t forget letting your little ones be creative and decorate- their art work on an ornament can make a great gift especially for the grandparents.
