I never get tired of talking about my garden. I am on year three of gardening and it is more exciting to me now than when I started. I have 1,000 reasons why you should garden, but I have narrowed it down to three reason you should garden.

Here are my top three reasons why you should garden:
- It’s calming. Nothing is more calming to me than walking to my garden in the morning, when no one in the house is awake- it is just me and my plants. It’s a calm moment before a hectic day. Just the sight of the garden is relaxing to me. In our busy world, filled with technology, working in the garden makes me feel like I am in a simpler time, which I find very calming.
- You get to eat what you grow. This one is obvious, but I have a real pride in getting to eat the vegetables I grow. I know what I am growing, the hard work that goes into having a garden, and how long each vegetable took to grow. Also homegrown vegetables always taste better. I also get to grow vegetables I just don’t see in stores, which is always fun.
- It’s a great family activity for the spring, summer and fall. Although I am the one in the family that started the garden, it is a family activity. In the spring we discuss what we are going to grow and my toddler and I work to plant seeds indoors. In the spring the whole family works to get the garden ready. In the summer we get to use the hose to water the plants, which is one of my toddler’s favorite activity. We take family trips to the nurseries in town and talk about how we grew the food we are eating at dinner.
When you just love a hobby like gardening, it can be hard to put it into words why it is so special to you. Why do you love gardening?
