I have been gardening for several years now in a raised garden bed. A raised garden bed is actually how I first started gardening and I think this type of bed is an amazing vehicle to grow for so many reasons. Read below for my top 6 reasons to garden using a raised garden bed.

1. No digging. I was so worried when I started gardening about digging up my grass for a garden, and what would happen if I did not like gardening (clearly I did). I also did not know how to start in ground gardening, it was a little intimidating. A raised garden bed is the perfect way to start gardening- no digging necessary- just add some dirt and you are ready to start gardening.
2. No worries about certain animal pests. I have a ton of rabbits and groundhogs that visit my yard. With my raised garden bed, I do not have to worry about these critters getting into my plants. (Although birds remain a problem for me!)
3. Close to home. This raised garden bed is on my patio, so very close to the door to my kitchen. This means easy access to my herbs when I am cooking. Being able to quickly grab some herbs from outside has helped me to use more fresh herbs in my cooking.
4. No bending. Sometimes gardening can be hard on your back and knees. This garden is great to stand and prune.
5. Easy access. Sometimes in my large in ground beds, certain plants can be hard to reach. I do not have that problem with the raised garden bed. I can get to any herb by walking around the garden bed and I have no wasted space as every inch can be easily accessed.

6. More gardening real estate. This bed is an easy way to expand your garden without taking up more of your maybe limited grass areas. It is also perfect for those who only have a deck or patio to grow.
I highly recommend gardening in a raised garden bed. The one I purchased from Amazon has been great and I highly recommend. Here is a link the one I have. I plan to write an in-depth review soon.
