First Birthday Parties – WILD One
My daughters first birthday was “Wild ONE.” This gave me an excuse to decorate with leopard print. I loved this theme and think you can do a lot with it. Here is a post I did about a great sign I made for her party, link here.

First Trip Around the Sun First Birthday Theme
I love these theme because you can do SO much with it. This theme would work with for a girls or boys birthday party. If I were planning the party I would focus on outer space and spaceships. I would do a lot of blue and silver for this theme- tons of balloons!
Once you have a theme, I find party planning falls into place. You can pick invites easily as you focus on the theme. You can pick or decorate a cake because you have a theme.
Where to host the party is a big decision, You can do a first birthday at home, a restaurant, a park… the places are endless. But that impacts decorations, which if of course my favorite part of the party.
First Trip Around the World Decorations
I would focus on outer space and spaceships. I would use a ton of balloon in blue and silver. How cute is this balloon sign that would fit in with this theme:
In my opinion, every first birthday party needs a wall of monthly photos of your baby. I love seeing how much a baby changes in year one. Here is an adorable banner that goes with theme that can you insert your photos into.
Here is the banner I used for both of my kids parties, and I kept each one in a keepsake box:
Although I love this theme, I would do basic blue or silver for all table clothes, napkins, plates etc. This way, whatever you do not use for this party, you can save and use for your next party! I think using the theme is absolutely every single element of the party (ie- spaceships on the plates, napkins, decor, etc.) starts to look a little silly. I think having a new nice pieces in theme and then sticking to a color palette is visually appealing and will probably save you money since you can use items for the next party.
In addition to a few key theme pieces of decor- I really do like a centerpiece on any table you have. You can use these premade centerpieces from Amazon, which would work great at any party location:
Or you could use mini globes and tie balloons filled with helium to the globes. You could the give the globes and balloons away at the end of the party to any kids attending the party!
I love this theme and think you can do SO much with it. It is a fun theme to decorate for and celebrates your little ones big milestone!
