On December 21st, I ordered a Peloton Row with a scheduled delivery on January 11 [read all about purchasing here]. I was so excited and couldn’t want to have my Peloton row delivered and start working out on it. However, my excitement was soon curbed by two things that occurred before the row was even delivered. Keep reading to find out what took place pre delivery, how the Peloton Row delivery went and my first impressions.
Delivery of Select Package Items Prior to Peloton Row Delivery
A few days after we ordered the Peloton Row, we received an email that the row mat would not be delivered by the time the row was scheduled to arrive. I was disappointed I would not have a complete set up when the row was delivered and that there were no details provided about when we would receive. The mat was a reason I ordered the Select package, as I wanted to place the row on a mat rather than the carpet in the bedroom the row would be in.
On Saturday January 7th, I came home to three Peloton boxes on my front porch. Inside the boxes were items included in the Select Package: the weights, double sided mat, water bottle, heart rate monitor and row mat. The mat was a huge surprise given the email we received that it was back ordered. I was thrilled to unexpectedly get the mat with the entire accessory package before the scheduled Peloton Row delivery.

I was disappointed by one item- the camelback water bottle. It is a small bottle- 24 ounces. It looks like the bottle I see many instructors use during classes. I found a similar water bottle on the Camelbak website (without the Peloton logo) for $13. The water bottle is just too small for every day use, in my opinion. Plus (and really my biggest issue), is it is not dishwasher safe. I could just use the water bottle for working out because it is too small to use as my every day bottle- but then I would have to hand wash. Hand washing anything isn’t something I do often. For a high end package, I was surprised by such a cheap accessory. For the price of this package, a second, sturdier water bottle should have also been included. I would have loved to have a nice Peloton water bottle to use every day, but this water bottle will not be it.

Peloton Row Price change
We ordered the row on December 21st and were scheduled to receive it January 11th. I was obviously excited and spent a lot of time on the internet researching the row even after I purchased. I began to receive a lot of targeted ads about row machines on the social media platforms I use. Well, on New Years Eve I saw an ad on Instagram that the Peloton Row packages were now $250 off. When I purchased, the “discount” was $200.00 off the package, so this new deal was $50 cheaper.
I am annoyed at what Peloton did with the discounts on the packages. We were told in the Peloton Showroom that the $200 off was a short term deal that would only be offered until Christmas. The discount was definitely part of the sale tactic used in the Showroom. We ordered when we did because we wanted to make sure we got this discount. Because the row is a new machine, we did not think Peloton would be offering any other incentives or sales better than this one offered at the holiday season. But then, a few days later, a better discount was available.
We called Peloton that weekend and although the representative on the phone was very nice, they could not give us the credit at that moment. We were told that we hadn’t yet been charged, so they couldn’t just change the price at that time. We could either: cancel and reorder with the new discount or wait until the credit card was charged and call back. I did not want to lose the delivery date.
This is bad for customer service and customer loyalty. Peloton should have just give us a credit on our account or altered our order to give us the new credit automatically. As a Peloton user, I would have been thrilled to see an email from Peloton explaining that they automatically adjusted the price to reflect a new discount.
We decided to wait and call Peloton again once we were charged for the row to call Peloton again to get a credit. We did not want to lose our delivery date. Luckily, we were able to communicate through Peloton’s messaging feature and got the credit for the $50.00. However, I think this was an unnecessary hassle.
Peloton Row Delivery
The Peloton Row delivery date was January 11th, with a window of 12-4. The day of the delivery, I had a 10 o’clock appointment, but my husband was able to work from home for the delivery. At 10:00 my husband got a call from the men making the delivery that we were the next stop and they could be at the house in half an hour. The delivery was nearly 2 hours before the delivery window we were given, which would have been a problem had my husband not been at home.

My husband said the two delivery men were polite and efficient. The entire delivery took about a half an hour. The delivery men told my husband that they were going to unpack all of the boxes outside and then bring in the parts to assemble. They cleaned up all the packaging before they left. We assumed that they took all of the boxes and packaging with them.
I wish I could end my delivery experience on such a positive note, because it was great until I left the house again. I noticed the delivery men left all of the packaging behind the trash cans on the side of the house, without telling us. All of the boxes and packaging was placed in a very large plastic bag, which was left untied. If I had not noticed the trash, it would have easily blown over onto my neighbors lawn. Where I live, our town only provides recycling once a week, which had been picked up that morning. Now the large bag is sitting in the garage for the next week until recycling is picked up. Below is a picture of the packaging left next to my Graco single stroller for size comparison:

I think what annoyed me the most was that we were not told about the garbage. If the delivery men had at least told us that they were leaving it, I would have asked they tie it up or just leave in the garage to begin with. However, they left it behind the trash cans, so it was not easily visible from the driveway, so I did not see until later that day. As I stated earlier, we assumed they took all of the packaging with them when they left.
I do not know what the policy is for discarding the packaging by the delivery company or Peloton. But, I would be shocked if the policy was to leave the packaging all with the customer. Now I have to store all the packaging for a week in my garage until the next recycling day. I have never had a large piece of equipment, furniture or appliance delivered- and be left with the packaging to get rid of- and did not expect that of Peloton.
First Impressions following Peloton Row Delivery
The Peloton Row is a sleek, beautiful looking piece of equipment. The equipment looks and feels as nice as the one in the showroom. The screen is much larger than the one on my bike, which I did not notice until I saw the row next to the bike. I am excited to have a screen that swivels to use for bootcamp classes.

I wish I had time to set up and start using, but unfortunately, my baby did not want to nap today. So my real first impression using in my own home will have to wait.
